A contemporary artist based in Seoul. Through deep colour fields, repeated layers and the symbolic presence of gold, she explores human existence and dignity.
Her rough, layer-upon-layer textures speak of anguish and reflection on life's absurdities, while pure gold, diamond and pearl powder distil a message of human dignity and the light of hope.
BLUE OCEAN
Above the sea and beneath it, yesterday and today — the sea changes its voice and colour by the moment, and she reads those changes as the emotions of human life.
DIGNITY
Deep textures built from repeated strokes speak of life's trials and time; the square that glows within them stands for the dignity inherent in every person.

Oh Jiyoon builds a relief of time on the canvas with tens of thousands of strokes. One stroke becomes meditation; their repetition becomes practice.
The layered grain of paint holds life's absurdity and anguish, and the gold set into its cracks becomes hope. Her canvases preach nothing. They simply remain, quietly, and move the heart of whoever stands before them.
Begun from the memory of praying with her family while looking out over the winter night sea. Oak charcoal from Jirisan and diamond powder call to mind the Milky Way across the night sky.
